Internal Medicine Specialist

The Vet Friendly Group (VFG) is seeking a full-time, board-certified or residency trained small animal internal medic to work with a growing team of medics and other specialists. Our main multi-specialty referral center is the Clinica Veterinaria Borghesiana, based in Rome (Italy).

About VFG: The VFG has three well-equipped facilities in Rome metropolitan area. which offer emergency, specialty, and referral services. Our 3 hospital facilities include a dedicated animal emergency and critical care units staffed 24 hours a day, in-house 0.5T Esaote MRI, 64 slice Siemens CT (plus another CT 32 slice), and a digital radiography, in addition to three dedicated ultrasound rooms. We also have all the necessary equipment to perform chemotherapy safely.

We have an active internship program and are starting our residency programs. Our extensive clinical caseload will provide an interesting variety of cases and clinical research is actively encouraged and supported. The VFG has a staff of over 130 peoples, supporting almost 80 clinical specialists, along with extensive training programs for professional students, interns, residents, and graduate students.

About you: The successful candidate will be expected contribute to clinical instruction of residents, other doctors, interns, veterinary students, and is expected to communicate effectively with, staff, and students. Some telephone/e-mail consultation with referring veterinarians is expected.

Clinical teaching responsibilities will include small group and laboratory instruction of veterinary and graduate students/residents. Participation in didactic teaching is also expected. Candidate are expected to be involved in professional outreach, and curriculums development. Participation in continuing education events and outreach activities for the private practitioners is expected. Candidates will be assigned up to 75% time in clinics, including clinical teaching of students and advanced training of interns and residents. Clinical research, publications or other activities to advance clinical veterinary medicine are expected and encouraged.

You should be able to communicate in Italian or alternatively be fluent in English and be willing to learn Italian.
